Goal
The existing ePages online shop should be replaced by a fully home grown solution to become independent from online shop software vendors. The new shop should also maximize automation potentials, save maintenance work and run on any common Linux server with Apache, PHP and MySQL. On this occasion the software and data structure should be designed so slim and efficient that the server operation costs can be reduced to a minimum.

Implementation
has created an all new online shop system, that can communicate with the ERP system of the shop owner, based on the Smarty Template Engine. The shop owner maintains his product data only once in his local inventory system. Product pictures can be dropped off in any size on the web server and are rendered to several smaller, fitting images. While rendering the images the software adds a watermark.
The menu structure is created daily from inventory system information of the shop owner and cached. An intelligent search function automatically recognizes if a customer is searching for a scale, a brand a type or a combination of product attributes. Results are obtained within fractions of seconds.
The shop is cluster-enabled, e.g. it can be distributed to an unlimited number of application servers. For that reason it is fully scalable and is ready for any number of visitors. The system also recognizes the customer's language and from what country the customer is surfing. It adapts the VAT calculation and the front end display to it. Many more features save the shop operator a lot of the daily routine.
Work Hours & Price
The project has been completed within approximately 350 work hours. The total cost was approximately 15,400.00 US$ w/o VAT.
